Case Study:
Tailing Storage Facility Bollrich (Germany)

This case study utilizes data from the paper Suppes, R. & Heuss-Aßbichler, S. (2021) to demonstrate the functionality of our web tool. In this article, an approach is presented which guides its user through a practical interpretation of on-site exploration data on tailings compliant with the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC).

The tailings deposit Bollrich near Goslar was part of the Rammelsberg mining operation. It contains BaSO4, Co, Ga, and In, which are CRMs in the European Union (EU), and the elements Cu, Pb, and Zn, which are economically highly important in the EU.
